Long Buildup

A bullish future trend in F&O occurs when the futures price of a stock or index is rising while open interest is also increasing. This combination - known as long build-up - indicates that fresh long (buy) positions are being added, reflecting bullish market sentiment.

Long build-up is a pattern where both price and open interest of a futures contract rise simultaneously. It signals that new buyers are entering the market, adding fresh bullish positions - a positive sign for the underlying asset.

Look for stocks that simultaneously show: (1) rising futures price, (2) rising open interest, and (3) above-average trading volume. This combination signals genuine fresh buying rather than short covering.

Rising price + rising OI = fresh long build-up. This is the classic bullish F&O signal. Buyers are entering new long positions, and demand is exceeding supply in the futures market.

It is one input among many. Traders combine long build-up data with technical analysis (trend lines, support levels, RSI), volume confirmation, and news/fundamental catalysts before entering a trade based on bullish F&O trends.
