Transformers & Rectifiers (India) Ltd. lit up the charts, recording substantial intraday gains. It surged 14.87% to trade at ₹349.20, a sharp jump from its previous close of ₹304.00, and having touched an intraday high of ₹360.80 by noon.
The primary catalyst behind this rally was a blockbuster Q2FY27 earnings result for the quarter ended September 30, 2026.
Firing on All Cylinders
A review of the company’s financial results submitted to the exchanges highlights strong operational and financial acceleration across both consolidated and standalone books:
- Massive Revenue Jump: Consolidated revenue from operations surged 60.74% YoY to ₹739.44 crore in Q2FY27, up from ₹460.03 crore reported in Q2FY26.
- Consolidated Profit Up 135%: Profit for the period attributable to owners of the company rose 135.33% YoY to ₹79.80 crore, compared to ₹33.91 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. (Total consolidated PAT for the quarter stood at ₹81.38 crore, up 117.88% YoY).
- Robust Operating Leverage: On a standalone basis, EBITDA expanded 205% YoY to ₹113.90 crore, driven by improved capacity utilization, enhanced execution, and operational efficiencies. Standalone EBITDA margins widened by 736 basis points to 16.1%, up from 8.7% in Q2FY26.
Beyond the Numbers
Past performance provides validation, but markets price forward cash flows and execution visibility. Management’s commentary and business updates outline substantial runway:
- A Bulging Order Book: TARIL’s unexecuted order book stood at a record ₹7,237 crore as of September 30, 2026, marking a 32% YoY growth. This ensures multi-year revenue visibility, with orders executable over the next 18 to 24 months.
- Strong Order Inflows & Robust Pipeline: New order inflows reached ₹1,169 crore during Q2FY27 alone (up 97% YoY). TARIL’s active inquiry pipeline under negotiation stands at approximately ₹21,000 crore (comprising 80% domestic and 20% export opportunities, with a typical 10%–15% historical win ratio).
- Upcoming Capacity Expansion: To address this surging demand, the ongoing transformer manufacturing capacity expansion at Changodar is nearing completion, with commercial production slated to commence around Diwali.
- Nuclear Entry & Global Footprint: The company marked its strategic entry into the nuclear power sector via the NPCIL Kaiga Units 5 & 6 project. Simultaneously, TARIL is strengthening international engagement across European and US markets through its newly incorporated UK subsidiary, Maxwell Grid Transformers (UK) Private Limited.
In Closing
As India accelerates transmission and grid upgrades under the “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision, power transformers remain the indispensable foundation of electrification and renewable integration. Supported by expanding order backlogs, upcoming capacity additions, and expanding operating margins, TARIL is drawing strong market interest as an execution play on India’s power infrastructure capital expenditure.
